Corey and Tona

Corey was raised in Davison, Michigan. He attended Eastern Michigan University, The University of Cincinnati and Mott College. Tona was raised in Grand Blanc, Michigan and attended Michigan State University.

Corey and Tona married in January of 1996. At the time they were living at Michigan State University where Tona attended classes while Corey worked at a local engineering firm. In October of that same year Corey’s company transferred them to Atlanta, Georgia. With Alex in tow they moved their lives to the South. Six months after their move they bought their first house. Corey transferred to Pond and Company, an Atlanta based architecture and engineering firm. Maggie was born that October.

Corey and Tona became very involved at Calvary Assembly of God in Atlanta, working as youth leaders for nine years. They also worked in children’s ministry. In the summer of 2000 Tona went on her first missions’ trip to Puerto Rico. She had such an amazing experience. The following summer they went together on an AIM trip to Brazil. It was in Brazil where God placed a call on their lives for missions. In 2004 they went on an AIM trip to Bogotá, Colombia. In April of 2004 the process to become missionaries truly started and their path has been redirected to prepare for missions work.

On January 3, 2006 the family left the States for Language School in Costa Rica. Learning Spanish was a little more difficult for Corey than Tona and the kids (Tona was nearly fluent before even leaving the States). The country of Costa Rica is very beautiful allowing for opportunities to minister as well as vacation getaways.

In August, it was time to finally embrace a new home in Bogota, Colombia.
